Can I get Baptized in Fruit Punch is set to be released later this year. This is a book that I have been working on for four years. There were a couple of times when I did not think this book would ever get published, however two weeks ago I signed a contract with Tate Publishing to have my very first book published.
This blog is going to take you through the whole publishing process right up until the release date. There will be an entire website updated before that time and hopefully it will be a really sharp looking site.
Tate Publishing is based out of Oklahoma City, OK and they are the 10th best publishing company in the United States. Although, now that I have signed they will jump up the charts pretty quickly :) They are a Christian based company although they sometimes publish more than Christian books. They also own Tate Music Group which is a real plus because the two will work together later this year to make a TV commercial for my book... yes a TV commercial!
I currently finished the layout portion of this process. Basically they want you to read through your manuscript one more time. They want you to do some funky things to quotes and Scripture verses. For some reason I had to put ZZZZZ before and after every Bible quote. The only thing I can figure out is that they do a lot of sleeping in church.
I also had to work on backmatter. Backmatter I learned is a fancy word for the back of the book. I had to write a teaser for my book which I found harder than writing the book. I also had to write an author bio, which makes you feel really vain, and I had to write an acknowledgement page.
The next step in the process is the editing of my grammar and spelling. They said it could take up to a month, but I bet it will take longer than that because I am king of the; semi-colon. Keep checking back on this website to find out more about the book and the process of publishing through the eyes of a first time author.
Congratulations James, we look forward to buying and reading a copy of your book. Your an inspiration to our children.
